Whittier

Whittier is a neighborhood that was suffering from the ironically named “urban renewal” policies that devastated cities nationwide with their tendency to empty out large numbers residents and businesses. Thanks to the revitalization of the neighborhood’s main business district, Nicollet Ave/Eat Street, the neighborhood has seen many improvements overall. Facing Washburn Fair Oaks Park along W 22nd St are some mansions that were built way back when Whittier was considered a suburb of the city:  a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Downtown.
